Rather than saying “#autistic special interests”…

Let’s say “areas of specialization”.

“Areas of specialty” is passive.

It sounds like a hobby, not something serious – or valuable. It places us outside society, when our interests and intense focus on them may be exactly what society needs.

An interest is … well, an interest.

An area can be a vocation, a career,  which can become a saving grace for the next door neighbor… or even the world.

Just as it’s a saving grace for us as we practice. And practice.  And practice.
Enough with the dismissal. Enough.
We have more value than anyone knows.
