So, a sh*t-ton of us folks on the autism spectrum have been in hiding our entire lives. Like Autistic Ninjas, if you will.
People will only see us, if we let them.
And many of us — like me — have gotten so accustomed to NOT letting anyone see us, that we’ve either forgotten just how camouflaged we are, and/or we can’t remember what it’s like to uncloak.
This makes it extraordinarily hard to get help, to reach out for help. We’ve been punished our entire lives for being too much like we are, and we know better.
We’re also often super-smart, so we know a million ways to blend, camouflage, mask, etc. to keep out of unnecessary trouble, thanks to the herds of prejudiced and aggressively ignorant neurotypical folks.
